The Night Squad in Paolos Trutz

  • Vorn crossed his arms and bowed slightly: "Vendui and welcome in Paolos Trutz." He bowed to Sinafay: "Jabress, Naira, Corbus and Gar'esh, ist is an honor to have you here. Accommodation have been prepared, you and your People housed in one of the barracks which there used during the attacks of the Black Ice, they have to do for are start untill we find ab better housing for you. But you will be left on your own, no other Soldiers are stationed and you may act there on your own accord." He looked around: "You may use the training facilities and I think that the new squad we have established for the protection of Paolos Trutz would make good training partners vor the Night Squad. But let us talk about the details later. Have your People been provided with food and drink?"

  • Gwo nods slowly and add
"We will manage perfectly well with this old barracks, the Night Squad will be honnored to train with the new squad you established for the protection of the northern capital"

"regarding the supply, i guess if you have some spare food and drinks i guess all this people will greatfully accept it"

    Then he turns to Corbus,

"Lieutneant, please dispatch the men and inform the people. I want everyone installed correctly by the end of the afternoon"

Corbus nod quickly and rid back to his duty.
Shorty after the men and people from Drada D'issan are spreading in the area. Discharging their horses and looking for some space in the assigned locations.

  • Rhaon dismounts accordigly stands respectfully but upright at Gwos side in front of the, obviously important person, not yet introduced to him, but also obviously not his Lord, waiting for someone to speak up and leaving some space for Sinafay to be seen well. ...

The Drow Valsharess nodded 'Thul'heen.' She waited until Gwo has finished, then she adressed a few words directly to him. 'It is a pleasure to meet you again. May I introduce you Rhaon of Leyvyas' Lord and Kight-errant. He and his group want to join our fight in the north and in the mirrorworld with the Night Squad.'

Rhaon: I´m honoured to meet you Tul'heen. Indeed we are here to offer advise and support at full range. Even though my negotiations with the Night Squad are not yet finished, I´m confident to come to a final state and alliance soon. After all we are allies here sharing simmillar if not the same goals and even though the two uf us have not been introduced before I´m suere we have already fought aside in the same battel, at least in the same war. May I thank you also for your hospitality and your offer for rest and provisions,...wich we will gladly accept.'

Here he earns a glace by Sinafay...barracks sounded crowded, loud and dirty....

... 'Aham, and with respect to the Ladies in my company, may I ask for an upgrade of the quarters....?'

  • Vorn nodded: "Roan, we will finde better accommodation for the woman in your company, maybe the officers quarters will be sufficient."
Then he paused: " Yes the mirrorworld.. a good issue. I will not accompany to Kelriothar this time. We have been attacked by the doupters. In the last few months at least 3 times. As long as there is no Archon, it is my responsibility to fight them on this ground." It was obvious that Vorn was not happy with this decision.
He looked to Gwo: " I have a question regarding your men, I know ist is much to ask for, but I need good fighters at my side...on this side and not in Kelriothar."

  • Gwo noted carefully the intervention of the Rhaon and let the basic drow protocol waste time and ressource as it will ever be.
Then he replies to the Thul'een

"We are here to serve the North, wherever is it. We will be pleased to stay in Paolo Trutz and help you securing the North. However i guess that at the moment the combined force of the element will engage the doubters troops in the Mirrorworld, their attacks on Mythodea will loss their intensity"

  • The majority of my troops is currently on their way for Kelriothar and the other part stays to defend our islands. I have only a few men here with me but if you wish, Thul'Heen, we will stay in order to help you as well.

  • "That is a serious case indeed" Rhaon turns to Gwo, "don´t want to risk our ... fresh and unfinished ... alliance by leaving you behind" then addresses Vorn again,

"May I suggest to splitt my forces and just sent my Lieutennant with a core troup over to the mirror world, while myself and mybe one or two of my advisors stay and accompany the commander on his duty here. When the doubters find a way to attack you here while most of the troups are on a campain in their territorry that looks much like surroundin our trops by something alike a pincer movement, so to take away the possibility to return the troups in time and leave them all to die after time when they and the adverse surrounding have exhausted them enough. If I where their strategic leader that would have benn my plan. So we must avoid this by all means...and"

looking at Sinafay "my concellour Sinafay who has also strong ties to the Night Squad meanwhile is not in the uncomfortable position of having to choose whom of us to support" he finishes then turns to Vorn again "Do we know how the doubters come here, is it more like they are drpped in here or is like they comming out of a gate, do we know?"

  • Naira waited silently. All that talk about troops!

She inspected the soldiers, theirs horses and armor. A strange place! Quite human or at least similar to a human settlement, with brickwalls and fences.
Not a place for an Atani for sure.

Her eyes turned to Mac. She would not sleep in a barrack nor in a house! Would he?

  • Mac sniffed, while moving around a corner. Naira...Her again... he thought by himself. Interesting. Once again, he smelled her presence rather than seeing her. That creature was still an enigma to him. Until now she kept off his hunting grounds. But now that he was sent to the North, he had to establish new ones. Since he was the only Redcap around anymore in Paolos Trutz, he would not have to cope with rivalry among fellow Fae. But she... he would have to look for her to make sure everyone knew their territory. Before he started getting comfortable in these parts.

In that moment he was already out of her view. And he would keep it that way, until he decided to meet her again.

  • Sik was listening attentively. A few units for the mirror world or not - it's about quality, not quantity. You can make also much damage to the enemy with few units, if you work smart and cooperative together.., Sik thought. But did not say a word. Since there still where new persons that she did not get to know a little further, she prefered not to draw to much attention.

As she noticed that something had emerged Naira's attention, she shortly followed the look of here eyes but only catched a glimpse of Mac's shadow that dissappeared behind the corner. And than continued to follow the scene of her own interest as before.

  • "I understand that I am demanding a lot, it is not easy for any soldier to stay behind. I thank you all for the willingness to help." Vorns face was grave: " We can´t expect all soldiers to fight in Kelriothar, while there homes are under attack. That disturbs me is that the attacks have hit Paolos Trutz more than ones, during the last assault, the governor of the city was abducted. The Rift do not open random, the doupters know enough of the seals to targeted the place they want to open the rifts." He looked to the Soldiers who there escorting him: "I am trying to send soldiers from oure side through the rift to Kelriothar, one goal is to kill the doupter who keeps the rift open, the other is to trap the doupters who kame through the rift on oure side. We haven´t succeeded so far, we need specially trained forces for this task....I need soldiers who can seize an opportunity then it presented itself. It is a dangerous and risky task, but I think it is something the doupters would never reckon with."

  • The redcap creature disappeared into the shadows, as Naira noticed with some interest. She had met fairies before, but she did not know much about them. Usually they had been drunken and instantly tried to become more drunken, when she had been talking to them. Things with horns and hooves, fur and funny caps. Like the Basha. Small or big, pale or sun-burned. They smelled of drugs, chalk and dirt - which seemed to be their most common aliments.

Well, some day she would like to try it herself, she thought, while she focused on the shadow of a house. She had a feeling as if someone was watching the group - sort of... something that felt cold and determined and that was eager not to move into the lights of the place.

Her brown eyes turned and she tried to deflect her sensory impression to the Terra man, Vorn.

  • Gwo listen the Vorn's last words very carefully and reply quickly

"Do we have an idea where this Rifts is ? or will be open... ?

He turns his head to the people behind, watching all of them carefully in the eyes, trying to read their inner will, their focus and feelings.

Then he looks Vorn again and says

"Give us the opportunity and we will do the rest"

  • When Sik heard this plan, she could not stop grinning. For some reason, she remembered the chat with Naira months ago, about having a heart. What does that mean, having a heart? The heart of an Illythiiri? She did not know, but one thing she knew: The sudden raising of her puls-frequenz was not only because of entering a high risk mission. It was also because she felt familiar somehow. She felt like something matched the nature of her dark-elf heart and mind. How handle the enemies? Plan reasonable. Search points of weakness for an effektive goal. Surprise the enemy in its own territory instead of giving him or her the chance to attack face-to-face. Care for Ressources. Dont show fear, dont hesitate. Simple, Sik thought. It's just like playing Sava.. To her regret, Sik suddenly get aware, that it was long time ago that she had the pleasure to play Sava last time. In addition to that, there was another fact that crossed her sudden fit of cheerness: Precisely, entering the mirrorworld during such missions maybe will not be as easy and funny as playing Sava. If nobody can stop the doubters, they may conquer the northern Capital and after that they gonna enter Shalzad. By the Abyss. I will Have to care for my life like a mouse in the nest of a hungry hawk, I guess. When Sik had finished her thoughts, the grin has left her lips, but her eyes stayed gleaming as before. No wonder, for she was young and had not very much practical experience with such an overwhelming treat of enemies like in the mirrorworld.

  • "So they are Rifts ... hah Sinafay, didn´t I say last week" Rhaon smiled at her confidently, than returning his attention to the strategic leaders becomming calm and serious, "So this is really an opportunity, a fast strike deep in the heart of the enemy territory from an unexpected direction, then making way to our forces, that are already there. Sounds good for me. Just as we know already that we want to do this, what if we have some of our troups, already there by that time supporting us from the other side backing our escape after succesfully fulfilling our mission? May I suggest to build two strike teams of our joined forces, so what we have aound just now and have one on either side.

Sinafay rolled her eyes during Rhaons allusion, but stayed self-restained as always. "If they have the key or wisdom to open a rift, maybe we could obtain it too? We should try to catch the person who holds the rifts open...If it is possible' So she expected seceptical glaces, she continued. 'If there is one who knows, I am pretty sure he is not the only one. We should urgently find out how they do it to know at best how to close. Or at least, be able to detect were the next rift appears. Maybe the magician, or whatever he is, has something with him...in case there is no other possibility and we have to kill him..."

  • Vorn sighed: "No, they have never opend at the same place, there lies the problem. The people have been informed to move away from any signs of a opening rift. But the response time is still to long, the new troop the have been training has the order to engage the doupters from from a great distance, useing bows and crossbows." He shrugged: "The first tour of duty was quite successful, but we still need more training. The Problem ist that we have enganged them in close combat as well, but oure soldiers at too focused on the enemy, we have not come close enough to the rift." Vorn nodded: "Yabress you are quite right, we don´t know how to open a rift. But what we do know is that the rift is open and held by one or more doupters. Killing them will close the rift, two things might happen. In the best case the doupters a trapped on this side, and we can kill or capture them, the other possibility is that every soldier from Kelriothar returns their, which would put everybody on that side in a hell of a fight. But ist is the best chance we have, for capturing one of these "magicians" and gain a lot of information how the rifts are opend, held and how to detect. The best chance oure fighters have ist to win their way back to oure forces."

  • Rhaon concluded: Though we do not surely know, what we find when entering through the rift, a short analysys would result in the following to be the most likely. We will have someone there in charge of controlling the rift but I would expect him / her to use an artifact to do so. Thus killing the person is eliminating the current danger and results much likely in an immediate closing of the rift with the intrusion team cut off from returning directly. Which is ok as the next step is to take care of the artifact. If we' re lucky it is some handheld type device and we can capture and escape to our troups over there and have it kept save and studied well. If we can not capture or, what I expect more, it is an Installation, type of a shrine or some of these pillars, we also need to escape to our troups and go back there for a massive strike, either destroying or securing the artifact.

Sinafay murmured. 'But if it is a fix installation...there must be also a person who runs the installation. Or such artefact you spoke of. So maybe a massive strike mustn't be urgently necessary...?' She looked from Rhaon directly to Gwo. Destroying one installation leads also just to building of a new one. The only consequence would be, they would gain time, but for what price?

She brought a new aspect into discussion in adressing again to the Thul'heen: 'You have told the governer had been abducted. How it happend?"

  • Sik coughed slightly. "Did I understand you right: For we have no further information about WHO and HOW and WHERE or using WHAT is controlling these rifts, our first aim is to get these informations, than our second aim will be to liquidate the person that controls the rifts." With respect to Naira and the other non-drow, Sik talked in the common surface language. She was not sure if she used the right word as she said "liquidate", because in deshineth there where a dozends words for killing somebody in a clean, secret, quiet way. So she added quietly, more to herself: "Or terminate, eliminate this Problem, either an artifact or a person."

  • Gwo remain silent and then say to all.

"Ok, let's do it like that. We should get prepared for the next Rift in Paolo Trutz.

Whenever this one will open, we will have to be ready to go as close a possible and if possible... cross it.

We will spread in two distinct teams, with two specific goals. All should be fast and capable to defend themself in case of problem.

The fist group will need to be fast and skilled fighters able to win time and distract the ennemy.

This will allow the second team to seek for the information we are looking for and identify the potential targets. Wizzards, Priest, Artifact I don't mind, we will try to get you the time to do some magical research. Their job will be to identify what potentially control this blood Rift and spread the information. Elimination must be last resort.

If we have to cross the rift same story but in addition the second team will have to look if they can identify the governor of Paolo's Trust. Do you have a painting or at least a name to give us, Thul'een ?

Sik, if we have to go in the Mirrorworld i'd like you to join one of my man called Ryldan to be in charge to find us an escape path or at least a retreat area"

  • Sik was just dreaming cheerfully about herself searching for the rift-making-doubter straight through or beyond the chaotic and dangerous battlefield together with one of the team, and stopped dreaming when she heared Gwo suggesting her a task that sounded less dangerous, but also important. She was thinking some seconds about his sentence.

"Yes, I was thinking about that, too. We can find out a point where we can recollect after a retreat. The risk is, that the enemy could easily detect our retrat-area, for there are no woods nor tunnels where we could hide. But in the night we could have chances not beeing seen while recollecting and care for the hurt units an this point." She made a short pause. "the strenght of the enemy might be its majority and rough force. So i think, distract the enemy, for example by spreading in different directions or having a lose formation could be the first step to hit the enemy at its weak side. Attack quickly, retreat quickly and not taking a close, immobile formation that would gives the enemy the chance to circle us and focus at one grouped aim. And after that, recollect, reorganise at a retreat point. So what are your Ideas to handle with the majority and force of the enemy that stands against our fighters?"
