Create a wiki page

  • All information about creating a regular wiki page with explanations of the input fields and tools for embroidery and formatting.

To create a wiki page, you can be well oriented to the creation of a normal post in the forum. However, first follow a step-by-step guide:

    Step-by-Step guide:

    1. Create the new wiki page using the "+ Create entry" button.
    2. Entering the title, filling out the input fields, specifying the category(s), writing the short summary, creating and designing the planned wiki entry. (See below for details)
    3. Optional: Add file attachments (like images), link to a corresponding wiki page in another language. Please don't change any settings because it's not needed and may result in not linking the title.
    4. Test the page via a preview. (Sometimes still not displayed correctly)
    5. Submit the entry. The entry is then released and checked by the Wiki-Team. Then the entry is only visible in the wiki. Afterwards the North-Orga looks over it again for safety's sake and corrects wrong IT / OT facts in case of cases.
    6. Currently the entry can only be edited by the Wiki-Team or needs to release your edit.

    Filling in the input fields:

    • Title: Meaningful and Talking Title for the wiki page. This will then be identified in all other wiki entries and forum postings and linked to this wiki page. So, for example, avoid articles in the title (like the or a).
    • Tags: Select appropriate tags to associate the theme of the page with similar pages, making sure to use tags that are already in use and not constantly producing new ones. For example, "Paolos Trutz" on all pages about characters living there and information about Paolos Trutz. Or "Aeris" on all pages related to this element. Tip: After entering the first 3 letters, suggestions from the tag cloud will appear.
Please be sure to attach the tag "Wikiteam-tbc" to a new wiki page! So controlling and sharing the wiki entry is much faster for everyone! ;)
    • Synonyms: The wiki page is accessible with every synonym and is automatically linked to it. Please make sure that you do not use too general words, because otherwise a link-chaos will occur. Mostly, synonyms are not necessary.
    • Category: Allocation of the wiki page to one or more categories, under which the page will be listed. Note: If you are in a category, it is automatically selected. Theoretically, the assignment can also be changed later.
    • Short summary: Extremely important short description of the page, which is displayed whenever you hover your mouse over the link to this wiki page. Therefore, this must be filled out and should be as concise and precise.
    • Description: The large text field is the input mask for the actual page content. Text can be entered and formatted here with the editor, which is also used in the forum. In addition, of course, the use of uploading attachments or the linking of images possible. See page layout instructions below.
    • Smileys: To insert smileys that are available in the forum. Usually unnecessary for wiki pages. :P
    • File attachments: Here, as in forum posts, it is possible to attach file attachments to the page or to include them in certain places (eg as thumbnails of larger graphics) in the content. Permitted file extensions and size are displayed accordingly.
    • Settings: Do not change a biite, otherwise it could happen that the wiki article is not linked to the forum.

    Notes on page layout:

    • Button HTML: Allows switching between the editor mode and the HTML view. This is sometimes on more complex formatted pages, such as: character pages, protectorate pages or if it fails times with formatting, quite helpful.
    • Headings / Contents: The Wiki has a headline feature that automatically formats the selected text into a title. Here, a table of contents of the page is automatically created. The clickable table of contents can be found on the right side.
    • Wikilink: In the wiki and forum the title of the wiki entry in all texts and posts is automatically linked to this page. If you hover the mouse briefly over the linked expression, the short summary appears. If you click on the link, you will be linked to the wiki page.
    • Infobox: Creates a code for an infobox that will be right-aligned and with the text flowing past the left. This box can be used to highlight special content of the page in addition to other formatting. This is not limited in width, so it should definitely be tested when filled with content.
    • Infobox 2: Like Infobox, only limited in width to a maximum of 400 pixels, and will resize when the browser tab gets or is smaller.
    • Info-Picture: A special code in which you can insert a picture. This image is then limited in the entry to a maximum of 400 pixels in size and bound to the right side. The main text then flows past it to the left.
    • Info-Picture 2: Like info-picture, but limited to a maximum of 600 pixels.
    • Reference / Source: A wiki entry formatting that moves a reference text / source to the footer and leaves a footnote inside the text.
    • File Attachments: When a file attachment is selected and uploaded, it is inserted by default as an attachment at the bottom of the page. But there is also the possibility to insert this at certain points of the wiki page. This is especially interesting for pictures, which are displayed as an original or as preview graphics, which allow to set the text flow or to vary the size of the preview graphics.
